CiCS Runs IPv6 Test Flight

There are 4 billion Internet addresses in the current system (called IPv4) and these are running out. The next generation IPv6 solves this problem but it requires pro-active steps from the IT industry and uptake has been slow. However, on 8th June the University along with big players including Google, Youtube and Facebook, will be running a one-day 'test flight' in which IPv6 connectivity will be enabled for our web services.

You should notice no difference as a result, but the IT industry and Internet community will be able to test their IPv6 solutions and embrace the next generation of web technology. CiCS is proud to be working on the cutting edge, helping to push the boundaries of web services.
